Moving on 2

Well, it’s happening. We viewed the house yesterday, spent an hour talking it through and have decided that we want to move out to Woop-Woop, as the saying goes in Australia. (Woop-Woop is the generic term for bluddy miles away).

Talking to my parents yesterday on FaceTime, they asked how the damp was in the living room. We pulled the coffee table and the towels away from one part of the wall, the floor is still squidgy, the skirting board has mould on, and (bleeee!) there was either a slug or a leech on the floor. Needless to say, I now want to bleach everything in sight and the letter we write to communicate our end of lease to the landlord here is now going to be a lot stronger than we thought it was going to be.

My colleague at work wants someone he trusts in his house, we want to move to somewhere safe and secure for our son, the house does need a little bit of work, (a new kitchen was next on his list) but it is certainly more liveable than the one we’re in at the moment. Nudge is going to get it cleaned and painted, and we’ll work out a time when we can get a kitchen fitted. It’s perfectly serviceable at the moment, but as I said, he got the bathrooms done earlier this year, the kitchen was his next project, it’s just he’s now moving down to Geelong.

It was only last night that we realised we hadn’t taken any pictures of the inside of the house! It has three bedrooms, a study, two bathrooms, one en suite in our room, all on one level, with a big covered deck off the dining room, so an extra room already. Downstairs is a den (another extra room, will be the man cave), the laundry, another big deck area and outside there’s also grass for Peanut to run around on. It’s a sloping block again, but the house is at the top of it, not built in half way along it (which is what is causing our current problems), you can also get under the house and with a work bench in there already, Hubs was in his element.

So was I. All I want is Peanut to be safe, and finding that thing on the floor yesterday showed me that he is not safe. It felt like I’m not doing all I can to protect him. The house we will be relocating to is further out, but is so much nicer, and we have agreed that we would stay there for a minimum of three years. Hopefully longer. I’ll keep you all in the loop as to what’s going on, but the decision has been made.
